  • Social justice

Engage.

Ask children to notice their own race/skin color as well as the skin colors of others. Talk openly about how people have different skin colors, including, sometimes, people in the same family.

Explore.

Read the book The Case for Loving: The Case for Interracial Marriage by Selina Alko. Use the included materials to help children identify and name emotions the characters experience at different parts in the story.

Connect.

Make connections to your own mixed-race family or have students make connections to mixed-race families in your school, community, books, or in TV shows.

Act.

Invite your students to engage in a small act of kindness to educate their friends and community members using the materials included in the free download.
